1) The document discusses building community in blockchain, noting that while blockchain is a new technology, building community is not new.
2) It notes that in the past, newspapers were the center of community but that blockchain community is now centered around Telegram, which allows for anonymity.
3) It provides tips for building blockchain community, including using moderation tools like bans to remove spam, trolls, and spreaders of fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD), and being careful of overhyping upcoming announcements or news.
Shouting LOL in a crowded theatre: trolling, griefing and Web 2.0 dickeryChris Applegate
Ā
A journey through a history of trolling, griefing before moving onto: why do people do it? Does it really matter? And what challenges does Web 2.0 bring to the mix?
Style or Substance: Free Software is Totally the 80's, LP2015freedeb
Ā
The free software community is smart and forward-looking, but sometimes it can be hard to see the big picture when you're part of it. Often the easy choice isn't the best. We've been hearing about this constantly from the DevOps community: "Build systems that don't fail spectacularly in the middle of the night!" Of course, those robust systems are a little harder to build and take a bit more planning to set up. But when you consider "other people's systems" there is no question that the hard work should be done because it will make things better in the long run. The trick is looking at your own systems with that same long-range perspective.
The culture of the 1980's is often depicted as an obsession with neon clothing, valley girl idioms and synthpop. That's an unfortunately shallow portrayal when you consider that the artists and activists of the 1980's were pushing back against the cultural norms portrayed in mass media. They were challenging boundaries about who gets to participate in the creation of art and embracing new technologies to share their ideas. How will our current era of increased free software production and adoption be remembered? Will it be all unconferences and penguin swag or will we be remembered for how we changed the world?
Applying a long-range perspective to the continued growth and success of the world-wide free software movement isn't easy. It will take time and probably money. Can we step outside of our own history and make sure that the community is setting a course for the place we want to end up?
During this unprecedented time, the banality of lives around the globe has amplified and has become more prevalent with our increased internet usage and mobility restrictions; subsequently, the meme culture is eating this up; Tinder now allows you to swipe all over the world; Tiger King has you hooked, and youāre wondering why; and Drakeās got you Toosie Sliding all over Tiktok. This plethora of virality (pun intended) has reached new heights.

That's the Wrong Question: An Introduction to Social Media AnalyticsAmy Vernon
Ā
Too often in trying to quantify our social media efforts, we get tripped up by asking the wrong questions. Here's a guide to the questions you *should* be asking and how you can begin to make sense of your social media analytics.
I'm always updating my popular deck on creating content that works for social media. There are a lot of things to take into consideration in your content marketing efforts. These tips will give you a leg up.
Social Media Etiquette (#SMEtiquette) for the rest of us. How to communicate with others online in a way designed to cause the least amount of friction and ill feelings.
We're at the point where we can't have it both ways anymore. We can't complain about giving up our privacy at the same time that we're loving the technology that comes about as a result of the information we're sharing about ourselves.
The question remains whether we end up in the dystopian 1984/Minority Report world or a more hopeful United Federation of Planets/classic Star Trek future.

Think You Know Great Content? Fugghedaboutit. Here's What Really CountsAmy Vernon
Ā
Content is king, blah blah blah. Fact is, there's no magic formula for good content, but there are some basic things you can do to make your content more attractive to both readers/consumers and search engines.
Having more fans and followers has become a metric by which businesses are often measured in the social space. However, if we look at how conversations happen on social media, it has become primarily a means for broadcasting. In this session for Marketing Profs' Digital Marketing World April virtual conference on Social Media Marketing, I discussed the concept of narrowcasting and how to mine your followers for the people and conversations you're really trying to reach.
Social media can be a terrific help when you're looking for a job. It can also hurt. In this presentation for The Briefcase Project for F.E.G.S. in New York City, I outlined the pitfalls
Automating certain aspects of social media can be helpful. But sometimes it can go extremely wrong. I presented on the negative aspects of social media automation at the SMX West Conference in San Jose yesterday.
Whatās the secret to creating content that spreads like wildfire? There are no guarantees when it comes to going viral in social media, but there are certain types of content that do better than others. This presentation was adapted from previous presentations of Amy Vernon's on the topic, for the first of a three-part webinar series with Bill Belew and Phill Hollows.

When it comes to the medical profession, social media is a bit trickier than in some other fields, because of the legal and ethical issues involved. But it still comes down to one thing: Don't be stupid.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck

As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an āinfrastructure container kubernetes guyā, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefitās both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Almost everywhere, Facebook is the big kahuna. In my old life,
in journalism, Facebook, combined with SEO, would take up

18. The people who start spreading FUD ā Fear, Uncertainty, and
Doubt ā for no reason need to go, also.
Itās one thing to be asking legitimate questions of the company.
Itās another, entirely, to be spreading FUD and rumors just to be
the troll. You have to give people the chance to ask the
question, but come down on them when they make it clear
they donāt care what the answers are. That FUD begins to infect
other people.

21. And, finally, youāve got to be really careful, however, when

REGULATION IS COMING
(cue Darth Vader music)
#wcef
22. But even if regulation is not coming, the best way to tank
your value is to shout about the good news you have
coming ā the huge news, the six announcements ā and
then those announcements donāt live up to the hype
youāve created. Your community, oddly enough, will yell at
you for not hyping enough, but in the end, will benefit from
this.
The best way not to get in trouble is not to hype too much.
Fact is, if you hype too much, you only harm yourselves.
At some point, the hype canāt keep up with the value, and
it will all come crashing down around you. Weāve seen
multiple cryptocurrencies lose a ton of value overnight
after the community didnāt feel the news was equivalent to
the hype.
