Brunei's economy is overwhelmingly dependent on oil and natural gas production. Oil was first discovered in 1929 and is now produced both onshore and offshore. Crude oil output was 62 million barrels in 2004. The Brunei Investment Agency invests oil and gas revenues, providing another key source of income. Agriculture and fisheries are minor sectors as Brunei must import food. The country is developing its forest and transportation infrastructure, including roads, ports, and an international airport. Brunei has a very high GDP per capita due to its oil wealth, though this wealth is concentrated among few.
