A breech baby delivery occurred at the CHC Konch hospital. The GNM initially missed recognizing that it was a breech baby during examinations and informed the doctor on duty. The doctor referred the patient to a farther hospital instead of the closer one, as is usual procedure. However, the patient's family became too nervous to transport her and an ASHA often sends patients to unofficial providers in such situations. The block manager spoke to the GNM and assured her of her abilities to handle the delivery. The GNM successfully delivered a healthy baby girl vaginally within 15 minutes. Both mother and baby had no complications, and the experience boosted the GNM's confidence in her skills.
Up doctor yanks off baby's head during delivery
A doctor in Uttar Pradesh attempted to deliver a breech baby by tying its leg to a rope and pulling. - 1. Bringing babies closer to their mothers
- 2. Lalitha belongs to a village named Linganahalli, 15 km (approx. 10 miles) away from this hospital. She and her husband travelled to the hospital via auto rickshaw, and the doctors performed an emergency C-section immediately on her arrival. Having spent much more than expected on this procedure, the couple did not have enough money to keep their low birth weight baby in an incubator for the required duration. However, the more affordable charges (less than half) of the Embrace warmer allowed them to keep their baby safe and warm until he achieved thermal stability.
- 3. This young mother, Shilpa, was rushed to the hospital for delivery while some members of the Embrace team were there to speak with the doctors. She gave birth to a little baby girl weighing about 2 kg (4.5 pounds). The nurses at this hospital always keep the Embrace warmer on stand by, for just such a situation. They bundled up the little girl in the device and handed her over to Shilpa. It is cases such as these that prompted Dr. Praveen to tell us how the Embrace warmer was helping them bring mothers closer to their babies.
- 4. This nursing home has few amenities. The hospital has a labor room and a small NICU; we personally saw three babies placed in one radiant warmer because of a lack of sufficient equipment. When we installed the Embrace infant warmer, there were twins in the radiant warmer that had been isolated from their mother for 20 days. The moment we placed one of the babies in the Embrace warmer and handed her over to her mother, her eyes filled with tears. She asked, “Do you have one more for my other baby?”
