This document discusses thriller films and trailers. It begins by providing examples of some of the author's favorite thriller films and what makes them appealing, such as good camera shots that increase tension. It then analyzes the trailer for the film "Let the Right One In", noting how the music, camerawork like panning shots, cuts between scenes, and dull atmosphere come together to build suspense and frighten the audience. The document concludes by describing a school assignment where the author's group had to take photos to create their own thriller trailer, titled "Who?", keeping the story simple and mysterious.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?emmanuella thomas
In my media product I used the code and conventions of psychological and thriller horror to show the social groups represents in this type of films. I also used stereotype representation that the audience would be able to recognise and also the genre and sub-genre. In my film I used two particular social groups ‘protagonist’ and ‘antagonist’.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2. In this blog, i will be talking about thriller films as i have been focusing on that specific genre
for my media studies course. Thriller films is a genre that revolves around anticipation and
suspense, it is a very different genre as it shocks the audience and keeps them waiting on
what's going to happen next. This genre stands out amongst the other genres. The main aim
for thrillers is to keep the audience panicked and worried at all times and to have a lot of
questions going through their head. A thriller usually contains : an escape , a mission, or a
mystery, without any of them , a thriller would not even be called a thriller. A few of my
favorite thriller films are : A stranger calls , No escape, The call. The reason to why these
thriller films are my favorite is because they have really good camera shots, and having good
camera shots make a massive impact on the films depending on the shots and how scary the
scene is . There would always be tension throughout a thriller film, until it gets to the climax.
In this blog, i would be showing everything that is based on the making and studying of our
film.
3. Let The Right One In:
I was recommended to watch a trailer called 'let the right one in' by my teacher. Before
watching the trailer, i did some research on the movie itself.‘Let the right one in’ is directed by Tomas
Alfredson and this movie is about an innocent, 12-year-old boy called Oskar. In this movie, Oskar gets
bullied by the people from his school. He meets a girl called Eli, and they become really good friends,
but later on he figures out that Eli is no ordinary young girl. After watching the trailer, I really wanted to
watch the movie as the trailer was so interesting. At the start of the trailer, the use of non diegetic music is
very gentle and relaxing, however when someone drops to the ground, the music changes instantly and
becomes more loud. The reason why the music changed as soon as someone dropped is to create a
dramatic effect, so this means this will keep the audience interested even at the beginning of the trailer.
Panning happens at the start of the trailer when Oskar is stabbing the tree, and the camera is rotating
slowly, this creates a powerful scene as it will keep the audience scared as the camera is moving without
any cuts so clearly the audience know that the reason why the camera is panning is because they
purposely did that to get the audience frightened .There are a lot of cuts in this trailer, and the purpose of
these cuts is to show how quickly everything is happening. There is a dull mood and atmosphere
throughout the trailer which is to show that the movie is going to have a serious storyline to it.

5. In lesson, we had to watch thriller trailers. These thriller trailers we watched mainly involved pictures than
video clips in it. After watching a few thriller trailers, we had to go in our group and take pictures .Before
we took the pictures, we had to think about the story-line, because the pictures had to make sense in a
way that someone would look at it and know what is going on. We called our story ‘ Who?’ .The reason
why we called it that is because we wanted to keep it simple and this sounds like a thriller movie name,
and it matched the story-line we wanted to do which was perfect. The models in the pictures we took are
myself (Premini) and Princess. The person who took the pictures, edited it and made it look like a trailer
was Daniel. Every single person in my group came up with the idea for the story-line.
