Through selling amadumbe, many people, especially women, have been able to build modern houses, buy cars, and educate their children. The project was started by Professor Thembinkosi Modi of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, who mentors the women farmers and helps with logistics. The Ogagweni farmers produce certified organic and high quality amadumbe that is sold to stores like Woolworths and some top restaurants.

As many communities complain about unemployment and poverty, the community of Ogagweni is beating hunger hands down, Ndivhuwo Khangale recently visited the community.
