Jem feels a range of emotions throughout the book as he deals with the aftermath of the war. He feels sad, depressed, mad at himself, and devastated over losing Hank and his grandfather. While recovering from his injury, Jem gets bored at times in the camp but also feels joyful when meeting Sarah.
