This presentation discusses brainstorming, which is a group activity used to solve problems in a comprehensive way. Participants are encouraged to think and speak freely without hesitation. The term was coined by Alex Osborn in 1948 to describe developing creative solutions to problems. Brainstorming allows for quantity of ideas, no criticism, unusual ideas, and combining/improving ideas. It encourages creative thinking and participation from all. While it can take time with large groups or those with emotions, overall it is an effective technique for integrating participants in the teaching/learning process.
