Two known command-line backup tools of this kind are rdiff-backup and rsnapshot. Both tools allow easy-to-setup backups, and impress with a direct file-level access to the last backup copy.
Although the two tools share the same main idea – “incremental forever backups” – they differ in how they reach this goal. While rdiff-backup stores old versions of a file by only saving the changes (increments) compared to the following version, rsnapshot creates a new backup file whenever a file has changed since the last backup. This fact leads to different advantages and disadvantages: while rdiff-backup is very space-efficient, a restore of an older version of a file might take longer. Rsnapshot on the other hand allows fast restores even for older versions, but as a downside it needs more backup space to store the same amount of data.
So which tool should I use? rdiff-backup or rsnapshot? Well, it depends…

Apache Kafka is getting used as an event backbone in new organizations every day. We would love to send every byte of data through the event bus. However, most of the time, connecting to simple third party applications and services becomes a headache that involves several lines of code and additional applications. As a result, connecting Kafka to services like Google Sheets, communication tools such as Slack or Telegram, or even the omnipresent Salesforce, is a challenge nobody wants to face. Wouldn’t you like to have hundreds of connectors readily available out-of-the-box to solve this problem?
Due to these challenges, communities like Apache Camel are working on how to speed up development of key areas of the modern application, like integration. The Camel Kafka Connect project, from the Apache foundation, has enabled their vastly set of connectors to interact with Kafka Connect natively. So, developers can start sending and receiving data from Kafka to and from their preferred services and applications in no time without a single line of code.

To install ns-3, the user must:
1. Download the ns-3 tar file and required dependencies by running apt-get commands.
2. Extract the ns-3 tar file and configure waf by running the ./waf configure command.
3. Install netanim for animation viewing and ensure mercurial and qt4-dev-tools are installed to support it.
4. Build and run the first sample program using ./waf and ./waf --run commands.

Fortunately, there is a solution. I’ve been working on kube-httpcache project (https://github.com/mittwald/kube-httpcache) that takes care of many things such as routing, scaling, broadcasting, config-reloading, etc...
If you need to run more than one instance of Varnish, this session is for you. You will learn how to:
* Launch a single instance of Varnish in Kubernetes.
* Configure Varnish for Drupal.
* Scale Varnish from 1 to N nodes as part of the cluster.

Measures in SQL (SIGMOD 2024, Santiago, Chile)
SQL has attained widespread adoption, but Business Intelligence tools still use their own higher level languages based upon a multidimensional paradigm. Composable calculations are what is missing from SQL, and we propose a new kind of column, called a measure, that attaches a calculation to a table. Like regular tables, tables with measures are composable and closed when used in queries.
SQL-with-measures has the power, conciseness and reusability of multidimensional languages but retains SQL semantics. Measure invocations can be expanded in place to simple, clear SQL.
To define the evaluation semantics for measures, we introduce context-sensitive expressions (a way to evaluate multidimensional expressions that is consistent with existing SQL semantics), a concept called evaluation context, and several operations for setting and modifying the evaluation context.
