The document provides a summary of British military historian B. H. Liddell Hart's book "The History of the Second World War". The 829-page book chronicles the military operations and major events of World War 2 from 1939 to 1945 over nine parts and 39 chapters. It offers controversial analyses of the causes of key battles and turns in the war. The summary outlines the book's structure, key chapters on major campaigns and battles, and lessons learned from the largest and most devastating war in history.
An overview of some of the key events of WW2 with additional information and pictures about the summaries. Also an important list of key figures and some of their roles. Shamelessly developed on another 'sharer's' ppt and built more into it to make it longer and more comprehensive - and I really liked the background too.

I was asked by my son’s class teacher to help Jonathan to bring one fact a day to school, on their new topic of World War Two.
This request came from a mutual desire to help Jonathan to see the value of school. Jonathan is a bright, thoughtful eight year old, who finds school a little noisy; he'd prefer to stay at home.
My aims are simple, to demonstrate the value of, being organised, working to a plan, being diligent in research, and that ‘work’ need not feel like work. So far, we've had fun preparing five facts for each week over the weekend. There has been no Dad taking over syndrome.
Thinking of getting a dog? Be aware that breeds like Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, and German Shepherds can be loyal and dangerous. Proper training and socialization are crucial to preventing aggressive behaviors. Ensure safety by understanding their needs and always supervising interactions. Stay safe, and enjoy your furry friends!

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

After more than four years of Nazi
occupation, Paris is liberated by the French
2nd Armored Division and the U.S. 4th
Infantry Division.
German resistance was light, and General
Dietrich von Choltitz, commander of the
German garrison, defied an order by Adolf
Hitler to blow up Paris’ landmarks and burn
the city to the ground before its liberation.
42. The History of the Second World War – Liddell Hart
The French 2nd Armored Division was
formed in London in late 1943 with the
express purpose of leading the liberation of
Paris during the Allied invasion of France.
The failure of the operation drove Hitler
to demand further operations inside the
USSR of increasingly limited scope, all of
which eventually failed, such as Case Blue
and Operation Citadel.

The German invasion of Russia in June, 1941 has

that would eventually lead to Germany's defeat
The attack on Pearl Harbor in December, 1941
got the US into the war, changing the whole face of
the war
Stalingrad, which destroyed much of the
German army and ensured that Russia would not
fall
Midway, where much of the Japanese fleet was
destroyed and after this, the Japanese were on the
defensive for the rest of the war
47. The History of the Second World War – Liddell Hart
The US emerged much richer than any
other nation; and by 1950 its gross domestic
product per person was much higher than any
of the other powers and it dominated the
world economy
The UK and US pursued a policy of
industrial disarmament in Western Germany in
the years 1945–1948. Because of international
trade interdependencies this led to European
economic stagnation and delayed European
recovery for several years
