The students made various boats and houses for Chip and Dale out of different materials like cardboard, plastic, styrofoam and tested them in water. Many structures either partially or fully sank because cardboard soaks up water while those made of plastic and styrofoam floated better since they are waterproof. The characters mostly stayed dry if protected inside sealed containers with air pockets. The children learned about which materials are suitable for boats and houses that need to withstand water.
