A 56-year-old woman presented with acute ischemic stroke. Doctors were unsure if her right eye ptosis and miosis were new symptoms. With the patient's consent, doctors compared her current facial features to photos on her Facebook profile. The Facebook photos showed no ptosis or miosis, confirming the symptoms were new. This led to a diagnosis of Horner syndrome caused by internal carotid artery dissection from a recent chiropractic neck manipulation. The case study suggests Facebook may be a useful diagnostic tool for neurologists to determine timing of new facial neurological signs.
