Under Gary Herwitz’s direction, CoMetrics acted as a financial advisor to the clothing line Tahari ASL during the 2013 sale of the Catherine Malandrino brand to Bluestar Alliance.

2. INTRODUCTION
 An experienced New York City business executive, Gary
D. Herwitz has served as the managing partner of
CoMetrics since 2005. Under Gary Herwitz’s direction,
CoMetrics acted as a financial advisor to the clothing line
Tahari ASL during the 2013 sale of the Catherine
Malandrino brand to Bluestar Alliance.
Elie Tahari, chairwoman of Elie Tahari Ltd., and Arthur
Levine, the president of Tahari ASL, had been investors in
the Catherine Malandrino fashion brand since October
2011. As the owner of the Malandrino brand and
intellectual property assets, Tahari ASL saw an
opportunity to widen its circle of investors by partnering
with Bluestar Alliance.

3. BLUESTAR ALLIANCE
 Although Tahari ASL will continue to manufacture and
distribute the contemporary Catherine Malandrino
line, the acquisition by Bluestar Alliance will enable
the brand to expand globally. At the time of the
transaction, Bluestar chief executive Joseph Gabbay
expressed plans to take the Malandrino brand
“beyond apparel,” venturing into retail areas “such as
accessories and home."
Bluestar purchased the Malandrino brand for an
undisclosed figure. Both Elie Tahari and Arthur Levine
continued to serve as minority partners in
Malandrino’s business.
