This is the Savannah River Basin.
It is located in the mountain
region. This river basin is not
named for a major river. The
rivers that feed into it are
Chattooga, Horsepasture,
Toxaway, Whitewater and
Thompson. This river basin goes
through South Carolina and
Georgia. It is 198 miles and it is
171 square miles. Macon, Clay,
PLANTS AND ANIMALS. 


Plants that are from the tropics thrive
here. Rare Ferns and Mosses will
appear around waterfall surroundings
including the spray from the water. It
is mostly maintained by the state to
maintain their exceptional water
quality. The Hemlock Woolly Adelgid
can be found here and it is a big
threat. Peregrine Falcons can be
found during the spring and summer.
At night you may see the
HELPING OUT!! 




Property owners will help
prevent so much erosion
by planting shrubs, trees,
etc. They will plant wide,
long strips at the edge of
the lake so the snow and
rain won’t wash so much
 of the sediment into the

One of the animals on this river basin is Christy’s elimia a freshwater snail, sickle fin red horse, hellbender (salamander). The plants that are around the Hiwassee river basin are a lot. One third of the river basins land is covered with forest and farmers plant crops or plants by sowing seeds without tilling which reduces runoff.
