Bishan is a housing estate located in northern Singapore that was developed in the 1980s. It is bounded by Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, the Central Expressway, Braddell Road, and the Central Water Catchment Area. Bishan was previously known as Kampong San Theng and Soon Hock Village, and was mostly burial grounds for the Chinese community in the 19th century. Today, landmarks in Bishan include Bishan Park, Junction 8 shopping mall, Bishan MRT station, and Peck San Theng Building, which preserves artifacts from Bishan's history.
