A Japanese chef died of an aneurysm in the upstairs bathroom of a home after falling ill from preparing 40-50 pounds of seafood in the kitchen. His decomposing body and the seafood went undiscovered for 29 days, causing strong odors throughout the home. Two Odorox generators were initially used but did not fully address the odors. After setting up four generators and improving air circulation, the odors were successfully remediated after five days. The insurance company avoided cleaning and repair costs due to the effective odor remediation by Odorox.
1. Unattended Death Description: The deceased was a Japanese Chef who was preparing seafood in the kitchen. There was approximately 40-50 pounds of sea food in various pots, pans and trays. While food was being prepared the Chef fell ill and went to the upstairs bedroom of the home. He had gotten up from a nap and went to the bathroom on the upper level where he had an aneurysm and passed away. The decomposing body in the upstairs restroom as well as the sea food in the lower kitchen went undiscovered for 29 days. All sources causing the odors were remediated. This includes any and all structures contaminated.
2. Odorox Use: With this being our first time using Odorox, we started off using only two of the Hydroxyl Generators. One Odorox generator was placed in the upper level of the home and the other going into the kitchen on the lower level. We also used four air movers, two working in tandem with Odorox and the other two circulating the air. The AC was left on with the fans in the on position. After two days of use we could tell a difference, but not the magnitude we were expecting. After consulting with Odorox we reset our game plan to set up four Hydroxyl Generators with some changes in the interior. We opened all drawers, cabinets, and closets and positioned the cushions on the couch to stand up to where the Hydroxyls had every chance to reach their target. The Odorox Generators were allowed five days of operation. Contents and dwelling were successfully remediated of odors. State Farm insurance was saved the expense of contents cleaning and interior sealing painting of walls and ceiling. Personal notes: It is the opinion of Gordy Powell, Director of Operations of A-1 BIO-Clean Service that the use of the Odorox Hydroxyl Generator should be used at a rate of one generator for every 500-700 S.F. of dwelling with air movers being strategically placed for maximum air flow.
