Dr. Samuel Hahnemann was born in 1755 in Germany. He studied medicine and became interested in chemistry. Through experiments on himself with Peruvian bark, he discovered the principle of similia similibus curentur, or "like cures like," founding the system of homeopathy. He published his Organon of Medicine in 1810, outlining homeopathic theory and practice. Hahnemann practiced homeopathy for many years, gaining recognition, and moved to Paris in 1835 where he continued his work until his death in 1843.
