The 120-hour Medical Coding and Billing course at Big Apple Training teaches medical coding using the CPT, ICD-9-CM, and HCPCS manuals and medical billing, including health insurance and reimbursement. Students must first complete separate 40-hour Anatomy and Medical Terminology courses or show prior competency. Classes meet 4 times per week for 2.5 hours each, totaling 10 hours weekly, at locations in the Bronx or White Plains, New York.

2. Medical Coding and Billing
• Medical Billing and Coding is a 120 hour program designed to
provide you with the essential skills required for an entry-level
position in medical coding and/or medical billing.
• You will learn the principles of medical coding related to the
three main coding manuals: CPT, ICD-9-CM and HCPCS Level II.
• Medical Billing will provide you with the knowledge of health
insurance and reimbursement.

3. Prerequisite
• You must complete the Anatomy (40 hours) and Medical
Terminology course (40 hours) or provide evidence of
competency in these areas.
• Acceptable items as proof of competency include: college
transcript, MD, RN or LPN certificate or license.

4. Course Length(Anatomy)
• The Anatomy course consists of 40 hours of in-class
instruction.

5. Class Hours
• Days/Times Per Week: 4 classes of 2.5 hours per week (10
hours weekly).
