What does the Bible say about stewardship? What does it mean to be a good steward? In this video, I take a look at stewardship from a biblical perspective and show you what it means to be a good steward of everything God has entrusted us with - money, talents, possessions, and time.
2. Quote
“When God’s work is done in
God’s way for God’s glory, it
will never lack God’s supply.”
J. Hudson Taylor
3. 1. Regardless of our present
circumstances, we are to
utilize the resources entrusted
to us for God’s glory.
4. Genesis 39:3-6a (NASB) Now his master
saw that the Lord was with him and
how the Lord caused all that he did to
prosper in his hand. 4 So Joseph found
favor in his sight and became his
personal servant; and he made him
overseer over his house, and all that he
owned he put in his charge. 5 It came
about that from the time he made him
overseer in his house and over all that he
owned, the Lord blessed the Egyptian's
house on account of Joseph; thus the
Lord's blessing was upon all that he
owned, in the house and in the field. 6 So
he left everything he owned in Joseph's
charge; …
5. Genesis 39:19-20, 22 (NASB) Now
when his master heard the words
of his wife, which she spoke to him,
saying, "This is what your slave did
to me," his anger burned. 20 So
Joseph's master took him and put
him into the jail, the place where
the king's prisoners were confined;
and he was there in the jail. … 22
The chief jailer committed to
Joseph's charge all the prisoners
who were in the jail; so that
whatever was done there, he was
responsible for it.
6. 2. When Christians commit
themselves to being faithful
stewards, they can rest
assured God will more than
bless their efforts.
7. Genesis 39:21 & 23 (NASB) But
the Lord was with Joseph and
extended kindness to him, and
gave him favor in the sight of the
chief jailer. … 23 The chief jailer
did not supervise anything
under Joseph's charge because
the Lord was with him; and
whatever he did, the Lord made
to prosper.
8. 3. The foundation of our
stewardship today is based
upon our complete
commitment to Christ as His
servants without any
preconditions.
9. Genesis 41:51-52 (NASB) Joseph
named the firstborn Manasseh,
"For," he said, "God has made me
forget all my trouble and all my
father's household." 52 He
named the second Ephraim,
"For," he said, "God has made me
fruitful in the land of my
affliction."
10. 2 Corinthians 8:5 (ESV) and
this, not as we expected, but
they gave themselves first to
the Lord and then by the will of
God to us.
11. 2 Corinthians 8:1-5 (ESV) We want you
to know, brothers, about the grace of
God that has been given among the
churches of Macedonia, 2 for in a
severe test of affliction, their
abundance of joy and their extreme
poverty have overflowed in a wealth of
generosity on their part. 3 For they
gave according to their means, as I can
testify, and beyond their means, of their
own accord, 4 begging us earnestly for
the favor of taking part in the relief of
the saints— 5 and this, not as we
expected, but they gave themselves first
to the Lord and then by the will of God
to us.
12. David Livingstone
“If you have men who will come
only if they know there is a
good road, I don’t want them. I
want men who will come if
there is no road at all.” April, 1985
