The document discusses envisioning a new kind of Christian faith through asking new questions rather than making statements. It presents 10 questions that are transforming Christianity, including questions about the biblical narrative, the nature and authority of the Bible, God's apparent violence, who Jesus is and what the gospel means. It argues that questions can create conversations to launch people on new quests, unlike statements that create debates with a fixed outcome. The document explores some of these questions in more depth, like considering alternative understandings to the shape of the biblical narrative and different views of what the Bible is and how it has authority.
This document discusses the history and vision of the cell church model. It begins by describing Pastor David Yongii Cho's experience of burnout in 1964 which led him to rediscover the church model seen in Acts, with an emphasis on small group communities meeting in homes in addition to larger corporate worship. This small group model was implemented in Cho's church in Korea and resulted in explosive growth to over 250,000 members, becoming the largest Protestant church. The cell church vision sees these small groups as integral communities that together form the body of Christ, with Christ's presence among them. While the model achieved great success internationally, it met with challenges when imported to the US due to cultural and structural differences.
1. The document describes a dream had by John Morgan about taking a left fork in a road in Georgia that led him to a valley called Heywood Valley.
2. Years later, as a missionary in Georgia, Morgan came upon the same fork and remembered the dream, taking the left fork which led him to Heywood Valley.
3. In the valley, Morgan found that many families' bibles had been marked by a stranger preparing them to accept Morgan's teachings, and he baptized almost all the families in the valley.
1) To understand the Bible, one must first become a believer in Jesus Christ through salvation.
2) Read the Bible starting with the Gospels of Mark and John to understand Christ. Read the rest of the New Testament then move to the Old Testament.
3) The Bible was written by human authors but was directed by God. It is not just a book but gives the message of Jesus Christ and salvation from sin.
Keep The Faith Jude 17-23 Adapted from a sermon by Steve Shepherd http://www.sermoncentral.com/sermons/keep-the-faith-steve-shepherd-sermon-on-faith-127855.asp
The document discusses mastering the Bible. It covers the Bible's authorship by both divine and human authors over 1600 years across 3 continents and 3 languages. It asserts the Bible's authority comes from its divine authorship as God's revelation of himself. The Bible provides answers to life's biggest questions about identity, purpose, origins, and what happens after death, which science cannot fully address. Understanding the Bible is important to understanding God's instructions for his creation.
The document discusses the importance of teaching disciples to love and study scripture. It provides statistics showing that less than half of churchgoers read the Bible regularly and recommends maintaining a connection to Jesus through scripture rather than trying to change through willpower alone. It also outlines basic Bible study techniques like focusing on obvious facts and using "5Ws and an H" to guide understanding of scripture passages.
This document discusses preaching and biblical interpretation. It makes several key points:
1) The minister has a responsibility as an interpreter of the Bible and to rightly divide the word of truth, as most churchgoers will learn about the Bible from the minister's sermons.
2) When interpreting the Bible, the minister should apply hermeneutical principles like relying solely on Scripture as the basis for sermons (sola Scriptura), understanding the unity of Scripture's theology, and interpreting individual passages in light of the overarching biblical message and Christ's central role.
3) The minister's goal in interpretation is to persuade people to become Christians and nurture existing Christians, not just impart knowledge
Practical Religion Chap 5a Bible ReadingScott Thomas
The document discusses the importance and value of Bible reading. It states that after prayer, nothing is more important for practical religion than reading the Bible. It explains that through reading the Bible, one can learn what to believe, how to live, and how to die peacefully. It argues that the Bible alone is the perfect, inspired word of God and the only rule by which to judge matters of faith and practice. It outlines many benefits of Bible reading, such as learning of God's salvation plan, examples of good and bad people, and comforting promises. The document asserts that no other book has had as much impact on mankind as the Bible, through events like the Protestant Reformation. It claims the Bible is the only book that

The document provides a summary of how the Bible was compiled over hundreds of years by many authors on three continents. It explains that while humans wrote the individual books, the Bible is considered divinely inspired. The books that comprised the Bible were determined based on their authority and accuracy in representing God's revelation and truth. Various religious authorities gradually recognized the authoritative books until the canon of the Bible was established. The document then discusses how the original manuscripts were accurately preserved through copies to give readers confidence in the text we have today.

Forming groups to support ongoing evangelization efforts is also mentioned.
My heart is, and has been, burdened about the state of the Church for more than 30 years. We have taken on so many traditions of men. These are traditions that annul Scripture just as Jesus scolded the Pharisees for. I have been feeling compelled by God to write and expose what I believe to be the main or root cause that allows us to build these unbiblical traditions.
Sadly, when I have discussed these things with pastors and Christians in general, while they agree that we now more often than not, preach a sugar-coated gospel, they just cannot see the depth of the problem. It challenges their basic assumptions far too much. I needed to write a fact-based work, with much data that can prove what I am trying to convey and what God is saying to the Western Church today....
Christians believe in Jesus Christ and their holy book is the Bible. The Bible is divided into the Old Testament and New Testament. The Old Testament contains the history and stories of the Jewish people before Jesus, while the New Testament focuses on the life of Jesus and teachings for how Christians should live. Christians see the Bible as a moral guide that tells them about Jesus and how to live according to his teachings.
The document discusses John Paul II's views on the role of laity in the Church and his call to promote Catholic associations. It also discusses Blessed Alberione's study of different spiritualities and how he found St. Paul presented the complete Christ. The founding of the Society of St. Paul is mentioned, with a focus on Blessed Timothy Giaccardo as the first priest ordained.

As part of Biblefresh - celebrating the year of the Bible - Wycliffe Bible Translators have been running a series of evening classes. The classes have provided Bible training from Bible translators.
In the sixth installment, Pam Bendor-Samuel considered some of the dualities the Bible presents to us about God, and suggests ways we can meditate on God through these.
Throughout the Year of the Bible, Wycliffe Bible Translators have been running a series of evening classes. It's all part of Biblefresh, a movement of individuals and organisations helping people to get back into the Bible.
In May, John Macaulay looked at how we go about choosing from the vast array of Bibles and study resources available in English. John and his wife have worked with Wycliffe Bible Translators for more than 25 years.
As part of Biblefresh, Wycliffe Bible Translators have been holding a series of evening classes, helping people to interact more with the Bible.
In this, the third in the series, Katy Barnwell, who works with Old Testament translations in Nigeria, talks about why it's important that the church today continues to engage with the Old Testament.
The truth of the authority of Scripture is one of the key pillars of our faith. But how certain can we be about the text of the Bible, given the thousands of years that separate us from the writers? Nick Lunn talks about how sure we can be of the reliability of the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts we have today.
How do we handle the text of Scripture sensitively? What difference does it make that the Bible we read today was originally composed 2000+ years ago?
This presentation from Wycliffe Bible Translators considers some of the challenges faced by working with a text that was written at a different point in history in a different language to English and for a different culture.
The Bible tells the story of God and his relationship with humanity in five acts: (1) Creation and the Fall, (2) Israel, (3) Jesus, (4) the Church, and (5) the Final Restoration. It uses narratives and stories to convey important theological concepts and lessons throughout the different eras of human history. The overarching story culminates in the restoration of God's creation through Jesus Christ.
The Book of Samuel is a book in the Hebrew Bible, found as two books in the Old Testament. The book is part of the Deuteronomistic history, a series of books that constitute a theological history of the Israelites and that aim to explain God's law for Israel under the guidance of the prophets.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
