2017 after she won a bronze medal at the Asian Boxing
Championships in the Women's Welterweight category,
beat Germany's Nadine Apetz 3:2 in the Round of 16.

8. Lovlina Boroghain's Wins, Ensures Second Medal_23-year-
old Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain brought cheer to the
country at the Tokyo Olympics. The first woman boxer from
Assam at the Games came up with a commanding display.
She assured India of its first boxing medal when she upstaged
former world champion Nien- Chin Chen of Chinese Taipei to
enter the semi finals on Friday.

9. Tokyo 2020: PV Sindhu loses to Tai Tzu-Ying in semis, fought for bronze now
PV Sindhu's hopes of securing India's first-ever Olympic gold in
badminton came crashing down as she slumped to a straight-game
defeat against world no.1 Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in the women's
singles semifinals in Tokyo on Saturday. The 26-year-old silver -
medallist from the Rio Games, however, remained in the hunt for a
bronze medal and competed against China's He Bing Jiao in the third
place play-off at Musashino Forest Plaza on Sunday and won.

12. BRONZE MEDAL FOR INDIAN HOCKEY [MEN] TEAM:
The Indian side defeated Germany 5-4 on August 5 at Oi Hockey Stadium
to win the bronze medal. India made a 5-4 victory over Germany that gave
India their 12th hockey medal in the Olympics but one that came after over
four decades.
The last time India stood on the podium was at the 1980 Moscow Games
where they won gold. The country has eight gold medals in all the Games.
Simranjeet Singh, Hardik Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, and Rupinder Pal
Singh were the other goal-getters for India.

15. Ravi Kumar on Thursday clinched an Olympic silver after losing his
57kg final to Russian two-time defending world champion Zavur Uguev.
This is India's second silver and fifth medal overall at the Tokyo
Olympics. Ravi is the fourth Indian male wrestler, and fifth overall, to win
a medal at the Olympics. His medal also marks the fourth consecutive
medal for India at the Olympics in wrestling.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya joins a list of five Indian wrestlers who have made the
country proud at the biggest stage in the world of sport.

16. On August 4, by the time the last minute of the semi-final match was left,
Ravi Dahiya had lost 9 points and the Kazakhstan wrestler had a lead of
four points. But in the last few seconds, Dahiya pinned down the
opponent, that is, dropped him down and put both his shoulders on the
mat. In wrestling, it is called Victory By Fall. The wrestler who does this
wins his bout at the same time.
Ravi Dahiya apologized to the people of the country after his loss in the
final and said that he is disappointed because he could not win the gold
medal for the country as per the expectations.

the second ever Indian wrestler to win
an Olympic silver. Ravi secured the
medal after losing in the final of the
men’s 57kg freestyle event to Russian
Olympic Committee's Zavur Uguev.
He is the third ever Indian to win an
individual Olympic silver after Sushil
Kumar (wrestling, London 2012) and
PV Sindhu (badminton, Rio 2016).

21. With a pandemic raging, Tokyo 2020 was going to be a tough one, not just
for the Indian athletes, but for everyone. Still, there was something about this
contingent that made one feel this Olympics is going to be special.
This 124-member squad had World Champions, World Cup Winners, World
No.1s, teenagers who had taken the world by storm, first-timers in events
India had little clue about. And of course, a bunch of stick-wielding hopefuls,
some trying to bring back the glory days, and a few who were already
anointed as trailblazers. And, at the end of India's Tokyo sojourn, the
country's medal tally stands at seven. One better than London and officially,
Tokyo 2020 has become India's best-ever Olympics.
