This document discusses a research study on the role of training in voluntary work and active citizenship. The study used both qualitative and quantitative methods, including a survey of over 1,800 voluntary workers in Finland. Through qualitative analysis, responses were classified according to levels of social interaction. Training was found to be a motivating factor both at subjective and intersubjective levels. At the subjective level, training motivates through self-development and learning new skills. At the intersubjective level, training organizes and guides voluntary work. Statistical analysis found no significant connections between background variables like age, gender, and education and the experience of training as a primary motivator.
