Berenice Abbott was an American photographer born in 1898 in Ohio. She studied sculpture before becoming interested in photography in 1923 after meeting Man Ray. She had her first solo exhibition in 1926 and started her own studio in Paris. In 1935 she was hired by a federal art project and produced 305 photographs in 1939. Berenice Abbott passed away in December 1991.
