2. Chapter 1: The Wrath of Grendel Characters: Grendel, King Hrothgar When night falls, Grendel goes into the Herot, through the halls, and kills the sleeping warriors. The King is worried about losing more men, so the herot is closed off for 12 Winters.

Chapter 2: The Coming of Beowulf Characters: Beowulf and his men, King Hrothgar, The Coast Watcher Beowulf arrives from afar and tells the coast watcher to notify his king that they have come to slay Grendel. When Beowulf tells the king that he has come to slay Grendel, the king is joyful with relief.
