Benguet
1.
2. Benguet (Tagalog pronunciation: [beŋˈɡet]; Ibaloi: Probinsya ne
Benguet; Ilokano: Probinsia ti Benguet; Pangasinan: Luyag na
Benguet; Filipino: Lalawigan ng Benguet), is a
landlocked province of the Philippines located in the southern tip
of the Cordillera Administrative Region in the island of Luzon.
Its capital is La Trinidad.
3. The mountainous area now covered by Benguet has been settled
for millennia by several peoples collectively known as theIgorots.
Two of these groups, the Ibaloi and the Kankanaey, are dominant
ethnolinguistic groups of the area. In the pre-conquest period,
these tribes enjoyed flourishing trade with lowland groups
immediately to their west and south, such as the Pangasinans.
Governor Juan "Oraa" Cariño (1913-1918) one of the governors of
Benguet, he is the first Filipino to be a governor.
8. Mt. Kalugong
This is a low-lying mountain overlooking the La Trinidad Valley.
You can reach it via Tabangaoen (a sitio of barangay Balili) or via
Tawang. A main feature of the mountain are its various rock
formations. Also in the area are tree swings, picnic tables and
traditionally-built houses which you can rent out at affordable
fees. It's a nice little place to hike to and have a picnic with friends
and family.

10. The Strawberry Farm
This is where majority of the famous Baguio strawberries are
planted and harvested. Strawberries are often associated with
Baguio City but the fact is these are farmed in La Trinidad. The
farm occupies several hectares within Km 5 and Km 6. Near the
farms are dozens of stalls selling ripe and freshly-picked
strawberries. You can go into the fields and pick your own
strawberries if you want. Strawberries aren't the only plants being
nurtured in the farm. There are also flowers and various
vegetables like cabbages and carrots.
11.
12. Taste the sweet, red strawberries from the Strawberry
Farm
When people think of Baguio, the first thing that comes to mind is
strawberries, not knowing that most of the fruit sold in the city is
not grown in the city, but in La Trinidad. In fact, La Trinidad’s
Strawberry Farm, a 20-hectare (49.4 acre) farm, is the only place in
the country that produces the fruit on a commercial scale.
Try to visit the Strawberry Farm early in the morning to avoid the
crowds. That way, you will be able to get your pick of
strawberries.
13.
14. Breathe in the sweet smell of the brightly colored
flowers at Bahong Flower Farm
Another product of La Trinidad that is commonly attributed to
Baguio is its flowers. In fact, it also delivers blooms to different
parts of the country including Manila. As such, it comes as no
surprise that the valley is dubbed as the Rose Capital of the
Philippines.
Bahong is actually a village in La Trinidad. Aside from roses, they
also grow carnations, chrysanthemums, and hydrangeas.
In addition to a tour of the farm, visitors can also try out flower
harvesting. They can also learn about growing their own blooms.

16. BUKAYO
the soft and chewy kind..what a delight!! went to the market this
morning and there amongst the display of lowland vegetables sat
an old woman with her bilao of freshly cooked bukayo. it was a
rare find for me since bukayo varieties nowadays are the already
hardened ones formed into balls and sprinkled with sesame
seeds..my mom introduced me to this delicacy during my
childhood, and since then have always looked forward to it as a
treat.. it is such joy to savor the natural goodness of coconut not
the dessicated or canned kind..

18. CHOCOLATE
Choco-Late de Batirol still maintains the same atmosphere that
I’ve gotten used to during my previous visits. Everything was
very organic; unpaved pebble floors, solid wood and bamboo
furnishings, skylight ceilings, capiz lamps and vines hanging
almost everywhere. It was a literal indoor garden of sorts.

20. STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL
The Strawberry Festival is celebrated every February, the
Strawberry Festival is another tourist attraction which includes a
float parade participated in by various barangays, non-
government organizations, people’s organizations, and business
establishments.

22. ADIVAY FESTIVAL
Adivay Festival is held every month of November; with month-
long activities for the coming together of people to celebrate. The
Adivay is a time for the province of Benguet to promote its
products. Benguet is one of the country’s major sources of
temperate vegetables and metal requirements such as gold and
silver. To highlight the different indigenous and unique products
of each of the 13 municipalities of Benguet, an Agro-industrial and
Trade Fair is held , as well as a festival parade.
