I. The speech and actions of fools are destructive, as their words hurt themselves and others, and their work is ineffective. Their foolish leadership also hurts subordinates.
II. People should not even privately criticize foolish authorities, as criticism could get back to them. The warning is to not make light of or fun of powerful people, even in private.
III. In dealing with fools, the advice is to not criticize foolish leaders and to keep one's cool, as words can either hurt or heal.

“Living Upright In An Upside Down World" - The world was turned upside down when Adam & Eve committed the first sin. By Genesis chapter 6, the world had become so wicked that God destroyed it with a flood. Only eight people were saved from the destruction. The upright have always been in the minority and with the world around us so ungodly, living an upright life can be a real challenge. - MP3 / KEYNOTE / PPT / PDF - (11/10/2013) http://w65stchurchofchrist.org/coc/
We have finally come to our eternal home in the last two chapters of the Bible. What a way to end! What a future for those who "drink of the water" (22:17) by trusting in Jesus Christ, the focal point of the book of Revelation and the entire Bible. Revelation places the 1000-year rule of the saints after Christ's return in chapter 19, seen in the normal, chronological sense as following the return of Jesus to the earth. This kingdom is both future and earthly ("they will reign on the earth," Rev 5:10). Download the entire manuscript, study notes, and handout at BibleStudyDownloads.org (NT sermons link). You may also listen to the audio of this message at http://cicfamily.com/sermon-listing/?tag=Revelation+of+John.
The climax of the book of Revelation is unarguably the return of Christ. What precedes in the judgments (Rev 1-18) proves his right to judge and what follows (Rev 20-22) is simply the "mopping up" operation. The devil doesn't work alone. He has millions of assistants now, and he will do the same during God's ultimate judgment on the earth. Not just anyone qualifies to judge the world. For one, you have to be Creator. Secondly, you need to have given the world the chance to be saved. Jesus did both, so he will be worthy to break the seals on the scroll to unleash God's judgment. Listen to the audio of this message at http://cicfamily.com/sermon-listing/?tag=Revelation+of+John.
Are you "hot" or "cold" for Christ? He prefers one or the other. What he can't stand is the "lukewarm" Christian. Such a person won't lose his salvation, but he could lose his ministry, his privileges and even his physical life! This often happens to wealthy believers who trust themselves, as happened to the rich church at Laodicea. Hear the warning. Better yet, heed it.
"Philadelphia" means city of "Brotherly Love." What could be more brotherly than telling prospective brothers about God's great love? Jesus commended this church for maintaining their missions focus, despite being mistreated. He also promised them deliverance from God's anger at the entire world (3:10), also known as the Pre-Tribulational Rapture.
Is Jesus ever impressed with our wealth? That's not a question many of us ever seem to ask! It's one of the most vital issues that rich Christians should address, though. He wants us spiritually alive instead of financially aloof.
Unfortunately, at times even a church can condone sexual immorality. It happens every day now as churches redefine and explain away God's definition of marriage. In his letter to the church of Thyatira, Jesus tells us how seriously he views us calling sin simply "alternative" or "acceptable" or "tolerant" views. In particular, pornography is destroying nations.
Revelation 2:12-17 Pergamum—Compromising Yet ContinuingDr. Rick Griffith
When Christians compromise their faith, do they then leave the church? Sometimes, but often not. Jesus rebuked this church for going through the motions while still allowing immorality and heresy within.
What encouragement would Jesus give to suffering Christians? He already did it in the letter to Smyrna. This church remained steadfast under persecution and serves as a great example to believers today.
Revelation 2:1-7 Ephesus-Learning to Love Again (Lewis Winkler)Dr. Rick Griffith
Paul encouraged the Ephesians to love in unity, but unfortunately that love waned in the 30 years following. How can we rekindle our love for Christ and each other? Jesus tells us in this important letter from Christ himself.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

Renewed in Grace
22. A wise man's
speech wins him
favor (10:12a).
"Wise words
bring approval"
"fools are
destroyed by
their own
words"
A fool's speech
hurts himself
(10:12b)
25. A fool's speech hurts others (10:13-14).
"Fools base their
thoughts on
foolish
assumptions, so
their conclusions
will be wicked
madness;"
(10:13 NLT).
"they chatter on
and on.
No one really
knows what is
going to happen;
no one can
predict the future"
(10:14 NLT).
26. A fool's speech hurts others (10:13-14).
"Fools base their
thoughts on
foolish
assumptions, so
their conclusions
will be wicked
madness;"
(10:13 NLT).
"they chatter on
and on.
No one really
knows what is
going to happen;
no one can
predict the future"
(10:14 NLT).
28. "Fools are so exhausted by a little work
that they can't even find their way
home" (10:15 NLT).
29. Foolish leaders hurt
their subordinates
(10:16-19).
"What sorrow
for the land
ruled by a
servant, the
land whose
leaders feast in
the morning"
(10:16 NLT).
31. We all have to deal with fools.
Why does it seem as if
most of decisions in my
workplace are made by
drunken lemurs?
Why does it seem as if
most of the decisions in
my workplace are made
by drunken lemurs?
Decisions are made by
people who have time,
not people who have
talent.
Why are
talented
people so
busy?
They're fixing
the problems
made by
people who
have time.
32. Foolish leaders hurt
their subordinates
(10:16-19).
"Happy is the
land whose king
is a noble leader
and whose
leaders feast at
the proper time
to gain strength
for their work,
not to get
drunk"
(10:17 NLT).
"What sorrow
for the land
ruled by a
servant, the
land whose
leaders feast in
the morning"
(10:16 NLT).
33. Foolish leaders hurt
their subordinates
(10:16-19).
"Laziness leads to a sagging roof;
idleness leads to a leaky house"
(10:18 NLT).
38. You know he didn't get there by himself, doesn't belong up there, and
doesn't know what to do while he is up there. Everyone wonders why
anyone put him up there in the first place.
