2. THE PROBLEM
● 600.000 foreigners live in Berlin (around 1/5 of the whole population)
● 40% of which area aged 18-34
● English is, at large, their language of choice
● This population is underserved by German mainstream media
● They feel uninformed and disconnected from the city
3. THE SOLUTION
● Bear Radio is Berlin’s first English-language podcasting network/label
● We produce podcasts for Berliners, by Berliners
● We enable Berlin’s podcasting community to become the voice of the
expat community
● We bring audio-tales from Berlin to the rest of the world
● We help to educate Berlin’s growing expat community, aiding its
intergration
4. OUR MISSION
● Become the voice of Berlin’s expats, immigrants and English
speakers
● Empower journalists and grow Berlin’s podcasting ecosystem
● Make Berlin into the epicentre of European podcasting
5. THE COMPETITION
● Our main competitors are English-language media outlets such as
KCRW Berlin radio station and ExBerliner magazine. Neither offer
podcasts.
● Our other competitors are German podcasting labels, but they don't
offer English-language podcasts.
● In terms of podcasting consultancies and teaching, we have no
competition at the moment.
6. BUSINESS MODEL
NETWORK
We produce new podcasts and act as licensing partner for existing ones,
offering them marketing services and connecting them with local
advertisers in a revenue-sharing scheme.
CONSULTANCY
We work with organizations, universities, businesses and foundations to
help them produce podcasts for branding and marketing purposes.
TEACHING
We teach podcasting workshops and university classes, fostering the
growth of Berlin’s podcasting ecosystem.
