It is launched on Ugadi, the Kannada new year, and is hoped to benefit users spiritually.
Few today realize that Marion was once home to the world's largest and most powerful wireless telegraph station. Built in 1914 by the pioneering Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company, the Marion installation boasted fourteen towers, each standing more than 400 feet tall. The station was designed to handle all trans-Atlantic radio traffic, communicating directly with another high-powered wireless plant in Norway. So impressive was the station at the time of its installation, it was referred to as "one of the wonders of the twentieth century.”
The document discusses the history and development of the internet over the past 50 years, from its origins as a network created by the United States Department of Defense to support research and education, to its subsequent commercialization and global adoption for both personal and business use. It also touches on some of the key events, technologies, and impacts that have helped define the internet's continuing evolution.

Vladek Spiegelman's survival during the Holocaust was based more on luck than his considerable resourcefulness, according to the student's essay. The essay provides examples where Vladek was lucky to have family members who helped him by providing hiding places or making valuable connections. It also notes situations where Vladek needed luck in order to utilize his skills, such as knowing multiple languages or how to hide effectively. While Vladek was resourceful, his survival often hinged on fortunate circumstances outside of his control and connections through family. The essay argues that luck played a larger role than Vladek's talents alone in allowing him to endure the Holocaust.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

In his search towards reality or the unchanging fundamental unit of this universe, a scientist started with the external gross world of solid matter which is simple and easy to see, divide, and do experiments with.
This search led him through steps of understanding of this entire world of matter starting from elements, molecules, atoms, protons, neutrons and electrons;
He further understood that it is all packets of energy.
The atoms conglomerate together to form various chemicals; our body is therefore a permutation and combination of various chemicals. (Packets of energy in various configurations) When they join together they form molecules, cells, tissues organs, etc.
These follow certain well defined laws of nature and are controlled by nervous (electrical) and chemical (hormones) mechanisms to bring about movement and action in each and every cell.
Thus annamaya kosha is the physical frame which the grossest of the five Koshas.

Muladhara is the root centre of physical experience, located at the base of the spine, the sacral plexus. The square represents the earth itself, the four dimensions and the four directions. Four allows for completion, and earth embodies the elements and conditions for human completion on all levels.
Muladhara Chakra is the meeting place of the three main nadis: Ida, Pingala and Sushumna. The downward-pointing triangle indicates the downward movement of energy and the three main nadis.
The seed mantra is Lam, the yellow square represents the earth element. The Muladhara chakra governs the vital breath Apana. An inverted triangle in the centre of the square encloses the unmanifest Kundalini, represented as a snake wrapped in three and a half coils around the svayambhu (self born) linga. Because her mouth faces downward, the flow of energy is downward.
The opening at the entrance of the sushumna is called brahma-dvara, the door of Brahma, which is closed by the coils of the sleeping Kundalini. As soon as one begins working with Muladhara chakra, this dormant energy awakens, raises its head and flows freely into the channel of Sushumna, the central nerve canal that runs along the spine. These two aspects of the kundalini: sleeping and waking, are identified as her “poison” and her “nectar.” The kundalini is poison when she remains asleep in the lower abdomen; she is nectar when she rises up through Sushumna, the medial channel, to reunite with Siva, the Absolute, in the yogin’s cranial vault.
In the pericarp is found the presiding deity Brahma, the lord of creation. His skin is the color of wheat, he wears a yellow dhoti and a green scarf. Brahma is four-faced, four-armed, holding in his upper left hand a lotus flower, the symbol of purity.
Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.
Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.
1. INTRODUCTION
Om Namo Bhagavate Sivanandaya
From time immemorial, India has carved for itself a unique
position among nations of the world insofar as life of the
spirit is concerned. Western savants like Max Mueller,
Schopenhauer, Will Durant and many others have drawn
attention, through their writings, to the unparallelled
spiritual heights scaled by our ancient country. This
towering stature was built up by an unbroken line of sages
and saints who had taught the truth much before the advent
of Buddha and Christ. Vedas and Upanishads are considered
as the World’s most ancient and sacred works.
Among modern day saints, Worshipful Swami Sivanandaji
Maharaj occupies a unique place as an extraordinary teacher
of Yoga and Vedanta. While initially as a doctor of
medicine, he concerned himself with peoples physical well
being, he transferred his attention to their souls exhorting
all to have Sat – Chhit - Ananda anubhava. He led them on
the spiritual path to realise God, using all the novel
methods to carry the message of Divine life through every
means at his disposal, gramophone records, radio, cinema
films, photography, books and pamphlets, etc, were the
media he used to share the supreme joy of God realisation
that he had experienced. He would have most certainly used

computers and websites, had they been available during his
time.
Along with him, Pujya Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj,
Gurudev’s most worthy successor and Pujya Swami
Krishnanandaji Maharaj, General Secretary of the Divine
Life Society for long years, continued to spread their
Guru’s teachings for long years, through a prodigious
output of articles and books which they authored amidst
their intense preoccupations with the Ashram work.
The Bangalore Divine Life Society at Tasker Town founded
in 1945 by the Karmayogi, revered late Sri V.L. Nagaraj,
has been carrying on the dissemination of spiritual
knowledge of the Holy Master Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj
in Kannada and English mostly to the people of Karnataka.
The Society has been publishing a monthly magazine
“Divya Jeevana” in Kannada since more than six decades.
The Branch has had the privilege of periodically publishing
translations of the original writings of Worshipful Gurudev
Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj translated into Kannada for the
benefit of Kannada-knowing public.
It is now envisaged through this website to place selections
from their teachings through articles and books before those

knowing Kannada in India and abroad. We believe that they
would profit from the writings of all the three mahatmas.
With grace from Worshipful Gurudev, it is proposed to
launch the website Divya Jeevana on the 11th of April
2013, the day on which Kannadigas all over celebrate
Ugaadi, the advent of the Vijaya naama samvatsara which
marks a new chapter in the annals of the Bangalore Divine
Life Society.
We firmly believe that not only Kannadigas and other
bhaashabhimaanis not only in India but also all those who
are scattered all over the world will welcome and make
good use of this website in their spiritual advancement and
attain beatitude in their present lives. This was the clarion
call of Worshipful Gurudev.
May Worshipful Gurudev be pleased to accept this seva and
bless all those using the website.
THE BANGALORE DIVINE LIFE SOCIETY
Tasker Town Branch, Bengalooru
7. HISTORY OF THE BRANCH
The Bangalore Divine life Society, situated on
erstwhile Chick Bazar Road of Tasker Town, Bangalore
was founded by Sri. V.L.Nagaraj along with a young &
dedicated team from the Postal Department Bangalore in
the year 1945.
Sri. V.L.Nagaraj lost his parents at a very early age &
had to move to Bangalore in pursuit of a job in the
postal department in 1940 after his matriculation. As a
postal clerk working in Frazer Town Post office in
1944, He came across water soaked and address defaced
booklet parcel which he opened and read the contents :
It was “Students
Sivananda.
Success
in
Life”
by
Swami
Thrilled & influenced by the forceful writings of
Swami Sivananda, He got in touch with Swamiji &
requested Him to send some more books. These were
shared with the collegues Sarvasri B.P.Balasubramaniam,
P.M.Damodaram, N.Ananth & M.Venkatswamy.
Sri V.L.Nagaraj along with his collegues embarked on
the noble thought of starting a branch of the Divine
Life Society. Permission was sought & obtained from
Swami Sivananda to start this new branch. Smt.
Bhagavatamma the land lady volunteered to rent a 10
2
8. 2
feet X 10 feet room on 131 Chick Bazaar Road for a
rent of Rs. 5 a month. (Part of this is the front room
of the present Society). The branch was inaugurated on
the 14th of January 1945 by District Collector Sri
P.M.Jayarajan.
Being II world war time, restrictions existed on most
of the essential commodities including the printing paper.
Sri. P.M.Jayarajan was kind enough to sanction the
printing paper required for the publication of three
monthly bulletins in English, Kannada & Tamil. (Divine
Life, Divya Jeevana & Deiviga Vazhkai).
These bulletins were distributed free to the people on
roads by the team of Sevaks on cycles along with buns
to the needy on Sundays. Thus began the noble Yagna
of dissemination of the spiritual literature which is
carried on even today by this branch.
The Bangalore Divine Life Society had many first to
its credit, including the Kamandalu sitting pose of
Swami Sivananda in tricolor which even today is the
pioneer photo of Gurudev. Calendars with Gurudev’s
picture were also printed & distributed annually.
In 1950, when Gurudev embarked upon the All India
Tour, initially Bangalore was not included in the
3
9. 3
schedule. The young & devoted team of Sri V.L.Nagaraj
ensured that Swamiji’s tour was recast including
Bangalore in its schedule. The society had to borrow the
money required for the air travel expenses of the
Swamiji’s team of twelve members from Trivandrum to
Bangalore & onward to Hyderabad, as this was the
precondition laid by then Tour Secretary Swami
Paramananda for inclusion of Bangalore.
Sri. V.L.Nagaraj & his team took two months leave
from the office for arranging and advertising the arrival
of Gurudev Swami Sivananda to Bangalore. It is
important to mention here the miracle that took place
with this team. These youngsters were using cycles to
move around & carry out the arrangements of the visit
of Gurudev. A week prior to the arrival of Gurudev
three Pontiac cars reported at the Bangalore Divine Life
Society premises with a letter from His Highness
Maharaja of Mysore being pleased to place these three
cars with Chauffeurs for the exclusive use of the office
bearers of the Bangalore Divine Life Society in
connection with Swamiji’s visit.
The tour of Swami Sivananda in Bangalore was a
phenomenal success & Swamiji was pleased to visit &
bless the Bangalore Divine Life Society, Surprised by
4
10. 4
the smallness of the room from which such stupendous
work was being done, Swamiji prayed & blessed that
the branch grow in leaps & bounds.
Further in 1957 the branch was requested to conduct
the All India Divine Life Conference which was also
held in a memorable way.
During 1962 Sri Jayaramulu Naidu the Land Lord
offered the Land for a price Rs 8000/.
Dr. Rao Saheb Ranganatha Mudaliar & Sri.
Muniramiah jointly built the Prayer Hall including the
Ladies wing in 1971.
Swami Chidananda regularly visited Bangalore and
blessed the branch and ensured the full blooming of the
branch.
The Bangalore Divine Life Society is carrying on its
dissemination of spiritual works of Swami Sivananda in
its humble way even today.
We invoke the Blessings of Swami Sivananda for the
continuous & vibrant running of the Bangalore Divine
Life Society in its cherished goal of dissemination of
the Spiritual Knowledge for times to come.
Jai Swami Sivananda !
Jai Swami Chidananda !
14. VISIT OF GURUDEV TO BANGALORE
19th October 1950
In the original itinerary of the tour the Bangalore was
not included by the organizers. The Bangalore Divine
Life Society led by Sri V.L. Nagaraj, Sri B.P.
Balasubramaniam, P. Damodar and Sri Venkataswamy
wrote a letter to to Swami Paramananda the organizer of
the tour pleading him to include Bangalore the capital
city of Mysore state and reminding him of all the good
work done by the Divine Life Society for the past five
years (1945-1950).
In reply to this letter Swami Paramananda wrote that
if we were prepared to meet the air ticket expenses for
one dozen disciples along with Swami Sivananda from
Trivandrum to Bangalore and again from Bangalore to
Hyderabad he would consider their request to include
Bangalore. So they thought whatever may be the
expenses Swamiji should visit Bangalore. They went to
a money lender and borrowed Rs. 500/- on interest and
sent the same by telegraph money order to Swami
Paramananda with a message, “Advance rupees five
hundred sent herewith, the balance will be paid on
arrival.” Swami Paramananda replied that he had allotted
three days in October 1950 to Bangalore.

During the days of Swamiji’s visit to Bangalore and
Mysore the newspapers both English and Kannada gave
head lines coverage with big size photos of Swami
Sivananda which enabled people to gather in large
numbers.

Swamiji’s visit to the Tasker Town branch on 22nd
October 1950.
During his three days hectic engagements at
Bangalore, Swami Sivananda paid a visit to the Divine
Life Society, Tasker Town premise. Earlier it was 10’ X
10’ room and substituted by a single chair were Swamiji
sat. “You were carrying on all your activities from this
small room !” exclaimed the master. “Yes Swamiji” was
the whisper. Late Sri B.P. Balasubramaniam commenced
the Pada Puja of Gurudev assisted by a couple of
devotees. Swamiji himself chanted various Mantras and
at the end, raising his two hands above, thundered,
“May this Branch grow !” The effect of these
powerful thought currents began to work.
In Bangalore at the Kamala Bai Girl’s High School,
Swamiji said, “In Bangalore there is a good spiritual
atmosphere.”
Then he did Kirtan. There was a good response. With
every repetition the response was growing more and
more intense. Swamiji remarks : “Till I get the right
response, I will not leave you even if I have to pass
the whole night here !” Produced wonderful results and
everyone joined him.

For those who are regular in Kirtan, all obstacles
vanish ; they obtain the invisible help of Rishis and
Sages of the indwelling presence. They soon attain the
goal.
Swamiji admired the devotion of the people
Bangalore : Children of immortality ! People
Bangalore, who are filled with Sadhana and love
God ! You are all truly children of God. May you
become Jivanmuktas and Yogis in this very birth.

To the women of Bangalore Swamiji had a special
word to say. You stimulate the nerves of the children by
many cups of coffee. Why give coffee to children ?
Surely, that is not the way to show your love for them.
This excessive coffee drinking habit will only result in
nervous breakdown. And epilepsy later in life. The
hearty cooperation he received from the public in Kirtan
enthused him and he went on for a considerable time.

invasion. You have in abundant measure the spirit of
renunciation and Self sacrifice and you are prepared to
give up your life at any moment for the cause of the
nation and its defence. How glorious ! May the Lord
bless you all with health, long life, peace, prosperity,
