An editor should also be built for the language to provide syntax highlighting, background validation, content assist, hyperlinking/hovering, and quickfixes to improve developer experience. Integrating the DSL with an IDE further enhances adoption and success through a powerful syntax-aware editor with immediate feedback.

In this talk, we’ll introduce RubyMotion, the platform’s development tools and workflow, and third-party libraries that push the state of the art in iOS developer tools. * Pragmatic Segmenter (a sentence boundary detection gem)
* Chat Correct (a gem for English teachers/students that provides error analysis when an incorrect sentence is diffed with a correct sentence)
* Word Count Analyzer (a gem that analyzes a string for potential “word count gray areas” which cause tools to report different word counts)
The talk will cover various aspects of building these gems including working from first principles, testing edge cases, and getting comfortable with regular expressions. I’ll also introduce a project that is currently in-progress - a new algorithm for parallel text alignment and some of the related challenges with building it.

Creating Domain Specific Languages in F#
When designing software, we often need to solve numerous instances of the same problem. When designing user-interfaces, we need to describe the layout and interaction. When financial systems, we need to describe a wide range of financial contracts or, for example, recognize different patterns in price change.
Domain Specific Languages (DSLs) give us a way to solve such repeating problems. By designing a composable functional library, we can build an expressive language for describing our problems. Using the flexible F# syntax, we can get code that even non-programmers can understand.
In this practically oriented talk, we'll develop a number of sample DSLs, ending with realistic examples. We'll cover both basic principles of DSL design as well as advanced tricks, such as using the F# 3.0 query syntax.
