But there are challenges to sharing information
Accounting for Personnel Security & Scalability
Situational Awareness Collaboration
 Are my people safe?
 Can we operate?
 Is personal info safeguarded?
 How do I support global scale?
 Am I compliant with regulations?
 Do I have real-time information?
 Where do we apply resources?
 How can we securely work with
other organizations to resolve an
incident quickly?

Lessons Learned
1. Alerts are simply not enough for
personnel accountability; multiple
alerts were required to get
everyone’ response, and still not
100%
2. Automatic communications work,
but also need ROBO for personnel
accountability
3. Enable Smart Phone for GPS-
based personnel check-in

Lessons Learned from Brussels and Others
 Alerts simply weren’t enough to effectively account for people quickly and
accurately. OUTCOME: Duty of Care is impacted
 Obtaining situational awareness was cumbersome and required piecing
together info from multiple alerts. OUTCOME: Time spent aggregating could
be spent resolving.
 Existing alerting tools, even bi-directional ones, were ineffective. Safety
responses come from many places and collecting details was challenging.
OUTCOME: Leaders require information about their people’s safety status
quickly; today’s solutions don’t automate efficiently.
Automating the process of accounting for personnel is crucial to managing safety
