The Battle of Lexington and Concord on April 19th, 1775 saw the first shots fired between British and colonial forces, marking the unofficial start of the American Revolutionary War. British troops confronted Minutemen led by Captain John Parker and after being ordered to disperse, shots were fired, including the famous "shot heard round the world". Key figures included Paul Revere, who warned of the British advance, as well as General Thomas Gage and Captain Parker. The battle resulted in casualties of over 200 British soldiers and 273 colonial forces.
