Barrow, Alaska is the northernmost city in the United States, located 1300 miles south of the North Pole with a population of around 4,373 people. The town is built on permafrost, which is vulnerable to climate change as projected temperature increases from 2000 to 2099 could threaten the stability of the city's infrastructure. The document encourages reducing fossil fuel usage and opting for mass transit, walking or biking instead.
