The Stimpson Family Nature Reserve has been privately owned by the Stimpson family for over 100 years as a peaceful place for hiking near Bellingham. In 2000, the seven children of Edward and Catharine Stimpson donated 116 acres to the Whatcom Land Trust to conserve the forest, streams, and ponds in perpetuity. The Land Trust now maintains the reserve to protect the ecology and support wildlife while allowing the public to enjoy the natural beauty. The reserve includes over 300 acres supported by various state and local agencies.
