The Barranquilla Carnival is Colombia's largest carnival celebration held each year in Barranquilla along Route 40 from February 9-12. Over 1 million visitors and locals participate annually in the four day festival expressing the diverse cultural traditions of Colombia's Atlantic Coast through music, dancing, colorful parades and floats. Considered the most representative event of Barranquilla, the carnival unleashes the folklore of the region and is a celebration of the joy and creativity of the Barranquilla people.
