This document provides instructions for creating a soap sculpture that incorporates the elements of form, mass, and time. Students are asked to brainstorm nature-inspired soap sculpture designs, carve their chosen design out of a bar of soap while taking at least 10 photos of the process, use the soap while washing their hands and taking 20 photos, and compile the photos into a gif file no larger than 10MB. The document defines key art terms like line, shape, and form and discusses how time can be actual, implied, or related to viewing when incorporated into sculpture. Examples of sculptures demonstrating different types of time are provided.

2. Mass
Shape and Mass. Shape is a two dimensional
area with identifiable boundaries. Mass is a
three-dimensional solid with identifiable
boundaries. Volume may be synonymous
with mass except that volume can also refer
to a void as in an empty enclosed space.

• Create a soap bar sculpture.
• The form can be abstract or representational but one solid form and
nature-inspired design.
• Document At Least 10 pictures during carving the soap
• Document At Least 20 pictures using the soap when you wash your
hands

2. Give at least 3 adjectives to each noun that describe its object
3. Draw an image of the noun considering the adjectives that you gave

• You must have at least 10 images of the carving process
• Use your sculpture soap and document until its form gets a flat form.
• You must have at least 20 images of the using process
*Document in the same scale, the soap must be in centered in the
frame.

26. Process 2: Make a Gif file
• Make sure all photos (carving and using
the soap) are in order
• Use Photoshop to resize the images to
height 700-1000 pixels and 72 dpi

*GIF file must be no more than 10 MG.
