Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi serves free meals to thousands daily through its langar service. Langar is a Sikh tradition where a common kitchen prepares vegetarian meals for all visitors regardless of background. To serve the large number of visitors, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib has industrial-scale equipment like dough mixers, chapati makers, and dishwashers. On a normal day it prepares 50,000-70,000 chapatis and washes 7,000 utensils using modern machinery operated by volunteer sevadars to efficiently serve its large langar.
