A 26-year old female patient presented with white patches on her thighs. She had previously undergone unsuccessful laser treatment. She was diagnosed with vitiligo. Her treatment plan consisted of internal intake of Bakuchi churna twice daily and external application of Bakuchi taila on the affected areas followed by sun exposure. Over three months of treatment, the white patches reduced in size and intensity, burning sensation resolved, and redness disappeared. The case study demonstrates that Bakuchi churna and taila effectively treated vitiligo without adverse effects.

Antaha parimarjana chikitsa:
o Bakuchi churna: 2g Daily twice before food.
o Anupana: Warm water

9. Observations at the midpoints
 Burning Sensation was completely reduced.

• The patient responded well to the treatment protocol, and the
skin condition was improved with reduction in the size of the

13. CONCLUSIONS
• Bakuchi churna is very effective in vitiligo without any adverse effect on
body or any system or organ.
• Exposure to sun light is additive effect to promote the melanocyte formation.
• Bakuchi churna and Bakuchi Taila had been used for the treatment of
Shwitra, the result of which are found encouraging.
• The rasa is Katu, Tikta, Ruksha Guna, Katu Vipak. The powder and extract
have strong antioxidant properties. bavachin and psoralidin has inhibitory
against antigen induced granulation.
• Bakuchi having katu-Tikta Rasa, Ruksha Guna, katu Vipaka, predominant.
In the Shwitra, Sroto-Dushti is removed by the katu-Tikta Rasa, Ruksha
Guna, katu Vipaka, of the Bakuchi and also increases the blood circulation
locally, thus provides nutrition to the cells present there and helps in the
adequate formation of Bhrajak Pitta in the skin.
