GUIDE
Pedicel: The stalk of a flower
Receptacle: The parts of a flower stalk where the parts of the flower are
attached.
S epal: The outer parts of the flower (often g reen and leaf-like)that enclose a
developing bud.
Calyx: group of sepals
Petal: the brightly colored parts that attracts insects.
Corolla: group of petals
Stamen: The pollen producing part of a flower, usually with a slender f i
lament supporting the anther. It is also the male reproductive organ of the
flower.
Anther: The part of the stamen where pollen is produced.
Filament: Holds the anther
Pistil: The ovule producing part of a flower. The ovary often supports a long
style, topped by the stigma. The mature ovary is a fruit, and the mature ovule is
a seed. It is also the female reproductive organ of the flower.
Stigma: The part of the pistil that a sticky flat top that catches pollen and
where the pollen germinates.
Style: It connects the stigma to the ovary
Ovary: The enlarged basal portion of the pistil where ovules are produced.
