clusters of nerve cells or neurons, in the
brain sometimes signal abnormally causing

 Brain Injury
 Stroke
 Brain tumors
 Infections of the brain

sudden surge of electrical activity in
the brain – (there is an overload of
electrical activity in the brain).

DIAGNOSTIC METHODS
 This test tracks electrical signals from
the brain, but a normal test does not
rule out the condition.

may be recommended as part of your
epilepsy diagnosis and treatment.

 A positron emission tomography (PET)
scan may be used to locate the part of
the brain that is causing seizures.

(lumbar puncture) a procedure in
which the fluid surrounding the
spinal cord (cerebrospinal fluid or
CSF) is withdrawn through a needle
and examined in a lab.

is mentioned in details in chapter 5 of
chikitsa sthan.

"Apasmara" and epileptic attacks are

aggravation of Vata dosha is known as
"Vataj epilepsy".

aggravation of all the three doshas is
known as "Sannipataja epilepsy".
