Business When I first joined AWC, I was a little bit intimidated. Everyone already
seemed like they were very good friends. After just one social event though, I
7pm RAWLS 1062 knew I had found the right place for me. Everyone was so friendly, fun and
easy to be around!
11/29 General Meeting-
Computer Skills I had only been in the club a few months before I decided to apply for Exec
board. I was so happy when I received my position as public relations and

12/6 Christmas Party and development within AWC has occurred on so many levels. I have made
life-long friends, I have expanded my professionalism and I have improved

eager to grow in all aspects of their lives. We give back through
Philanthropic events, and most importantly, we have fun. AWC has been

Tips for Rocking an Interview

Many things can race through your mind when preparing for an interview; things like what to say, how to act, and what
to wear. Most of time it is easy to focus primarily on aspects you need to do during an interview, but I think it’s a good
idea to freshen up on some of the things that shouldn’t be done.
In an article I read called “Top 10 Interview Blunders” by Allison Doyle, she mentions a couple of important behaviors
not to partake in. First of all, do NOT forget to prepare for the interview. It can really set you apart from the other
applicants if you are knowledgeable about the company’s background and what they are looking for in a candidate.
Next, do NOT dress inappropriately. A professional company is looking for a professional candidate, and if you have to
question if a skirt is too short or a blouse too low more often than not it probably is. This one seems pretty self
explanatory, but it happens: NEVER answer your cell phone during an interview it’s just rude! Another absolute no-no
is NEVER badmouth a past employer, it does nothing more than diminish your credibility. The most important thing to
remember during an interview is NEVER be an over or poor communicator.
Your interviewer will likely be talking to hundreds of applicants, so keep your answers precise, well worded, and to the
point; they don’t need to know your whole life story. On the other hand, if you don’t talk enough it may come off as a
lack of interest. The goal is to try to find a happy medium between the two. Lastly, do NOT forget to follow up with the
company. Not only does it show your initiative and interest, it is also a gesture of common courtesy. Despite all of this
however, the best advice anyone can give for an interview is to genuinely be yourself.

Our Chapter paid a visit to Fox 59 News studios in Indianapolis on
Oct. 24. Jenny Anchondo was a wonderful host as we got an up close AWC Annual Christmas
and personal look at the many facets of news. We sat in on the live Party will be December
broadcast of that morning’s newscast that began at 5 a.m. While many 6th.
of us were short on sleep, it was easy to stay awake as Jenny and her
co-workers showed us scripts, equipment, and so much more. Jenny Dinner at Puccini’s
was able to show us many different job opportunities in the news. From
writing to video editing, producing to filming, there was so much to followed by Pottery at
take in. We left feeling educated and very V.I.P. as Fox gave us the All Fired Up
star treatment and a backstage pass to the world of broadcast.
