1. Awakening
By Shanon Quinn
Awakening came slowly, almost
No sequence at all.
Snow was falling darkly, I could
Hear a silent call.
A whisper from beyond me,
To leave, forget this place,
But it had been so long since I’d had
My homeland to embrace.
The land once so familiar
Was the same, without the lest,
Gone was the serenity
Known only by the blessed.
I knew you wouldn’t wait for me,
However long I took,
For I can read into your mind
As you can read a book.
I know that you can hear me
Even through this frozen stone…
Please don’t tell me that I should
Have left your well enough alone.
2. But now it’s done, it’s over now,
Illusions leave no stain,
But dreamers suffer heartbreak
If reality remains.
