1. Forever Ago
By Shanon Quinn
Was my silence defiance, like you’d always say?
Was I expressing resentment when I looked away?
Or hiding my love, oh my sweet, if you knew,
That you had to destroy me, to kill my want of you.
That destruction was imminent, it eventually came,
You never felt love; you played me like a game.
With your fists then your arms, your shouts then your sighs,
You knew I wouldn’t tell by the love in my eyes.
You took me for everything, possessions and pride,
Then my heart, which you, careless and cruel, threw aside.
You changed me in the way that tragedies do,
I am wiser and stronger, I no longer love you.
