Quentin Tarantino is known as an auteur director who makes dark, gritty films containing violence and adult themes. His latest Western, The Hateful Eight, follows a bounty hunter assembling a team to capture a villain, and contains graphic violence and gore. Another example is Kill Bill, which also includes very strong violent and language throughout the two films. Tim Burton is also an auteur who makes films with dark twists but balances it with lightheartedness when appropriate. The Nightmare Before Christmas is set in a town always celebrating Halloween, and has a darker tone than expected. Edward Scissorhands also has tension that is relieved by lighter moments, keeping the film feeling fresh.
