Austria is a landlocked country located in Central Europe. It is bordered by Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. Vienna is the capital and largest city of Austria, known for its cultural influence. The Austrian Alps dominate the topography of the country, and the climate features warm summers and cold winters. Austria has a parliamentary republic government and uses the euro currency as it is a member of the European Union. Tourism, including skiing in the Alps, is an important part of the Austrian economy.
