Australia Day is celebrated on January 26th each year to commemorate the arrival of the First Fleet to Sydney Cove in 1788. Australians celebrate by having picnics, playing or watching sports, and enjoying fireworks displays. Awards are also presented to recognize Australians who have made significant contributions to their country.
