AUSTRALIA Lakes Entrance by Gary Lewis
Lakes Entrance
Where I live Looking East Looking West Lakes Entrance is located on a lake system that connects to the sea through a man made channel. There are islands in the lakes. The lakes stretch over 100km to our west and are fed by 5 main rivers. They are separated from the sea by a narrow strip of sand dunes. The ocean beach is 90 miles long.
Looking out the entrance with a fishing boat coming in. The town with lakes on both sides. We have the largest fishing fleet in Australia.
New Year Fireworks Looking from our deck 2pm in our street during a bushfire 30 km away. Sunrise from the deck
Flooding in town Sometimes rains cause the lake to flood into the town. There is a lot of concern about climate change making sea levels rise and more regular floods like this.
Our back garden – the big trees are in our land. One of my favourite flowers is grevillea – a native These bowerbirds are a pest in the veggie garden as they eat leafy plants & pull them out. Male Female
King parrot Black swans & young Cockatoo Rainbow lorikeets We feed lots of different birds on our deck
Dolphins Grey Kangaroo Sugar glider Rufous bettong
We sometimes have a big lifesaving carnival on our beach I go fishing occasionally
Outback Australia And Sydney – of course
Metung – a small holiday village Some of our seafood With our friends on holiday
