4. Historical Background
June 1948
Established as the first government hospital in the province of Aurora in
honor of Doña Aurora Aragon Quezon . It was on the same year that twenty
five (25) bed capacity hospital staffed with barely limited doctors, including
nurses, nursing attendants and other employee in the allied services of the
hospital began servicing the rural population of the eight (8) municipalities of
the Province.
1948 – 1992
The hospital was managed and operated by the Department of Health.
1993
Aurora Memorial Hospital were officially devolved to the Provincial
Government of Aurora by the Department of Health by virtue of the
implementation of the Local Government Code of 1991.
5. January 20, 2011
The ground breaking ceremony for the project was held with former Japanese
Ambassador Makoto Katsura, Senator Edgardo J. Angara, Health Secretary
Enrique Ona, Transportation and Communications Secretary Jose De Jesus,
Agrarian Reform Secretary Virgilio Delos Reyes and Governor Bellaflor Angara-
Castillo.
6. December 14, 2011
The turn over of the New Aurora Memorial Hospital building was held
between the Japanese Government, JICA, and the Provincial Government of
Aurora.
February 19, 2012
The New Aurora Memorial Hospital was inaugurated by His Excellency
President Benigno S. Aquino III and His Excellency Ambassador Toshinao
Urabe of Japan.
