Tampa Bay Young Republicans
                              General Meeting
                              August 25, 2009

1. Call to order at 7:08 pm by Andrew Dorsey
2. Andrew announced that we have two candidates here to speak that are running in
   District 67. District 67 is made up of Southern Hillsborough and part of Manatee
   County.
3. Dan Sullivan introduced our first speaker, Dr. Bob McCann.
4. Guest Speaker – Dr. Bob McCann, Candidate for District 67.
   a. Dr. McCann opened by recognizing Officer Michael Roberts who died in the
      line of duty. He added that he has a zero tolerance on crime. He said that
      there have been a number of robberies and murders in Manatee County
      recently. He added that Sheriff David Gee is a supporter of his campaign.
   b. Dr. McCann practices medicine at Temple Terrace Hospital and is also a
      lawyer who is qualified to practice in District 11 in Atlanta, the Supreme
      Court and Florida and Washington D.C.
   c. Dr. McCann served in the Navy.
   d. Dr. McCann then closed his speech and fielded questions.
5. Dan Sullivan introduced our next speaker, Greg Steube
6. Guest Speaker – Greg Steube, Candidate for District 67.
   a. Background – Greg Steube attended the University of Florida and studied
      Agriculture. During that time he lobbied and then interned in Congress. He
      then attended law school at UF and graduated early to enlist after 9/11. He
      started in infantry and later went into the Jag Corps where he served in Iraq as
      the Chief of Detainee Operations.
   b. Greg Steube has been endorsed by the incumbent and Sheriff David Gee.
   c. Greg explained that this is a large district and they need young, motivated
      people to get involved in the process
   d. Greg advised that he is the only native from the district that is running
   e. Greg thinks that Florida has the opportunity to capitalize on our economy and
      we need to get these tech companies to realize what we have to offer. Florida
      has no income tax and is a great place to live and work. It is also small
      business friendly so he would like to focus on the incentives for small
      business.
   f. Greg closed his speech and fielded questions.

7. Committee Reports
   a. AJ Dorsey thanked both of the speakers for coming.
             i. AJ announced that 30% of our members are either candidates,
                work for consultants, are political consultants, or are volunteering
                on campaigns. This shows that we are not the future of the party
                but we are the Republican Party. We also have a number of
members in the REC and we are all committed to turning
                  Hillsborough County back into a red county.
              ii. RPOF hosted Drive the Discussion in Orlando last weekend. Its
                  goal is to bring out teenage, college, and young republicans from
                  across the state to discuss and share their ideas and concerns with
                  candidates. 600 people attended the event throughout the
                  weekend.
             iii. A.J. advised that if you are looking to get involved further in the
                  club we are looking for a few positions. We need a Sergeant of
                  Arms and a Religious Affairs Director.
             iv. A.J. advised that he, Ashley, and Gaesenee worked with Paul
                  Phillips from the REC and wrote a resolution for the Healthcare
                  Bill that was approved by the REC. We are also going to be
                  working on one for tort reform so if you have any interest or
                  knowledge in that, please let us know.
b.   Vice President – Ash Mason
               i. Ash reiterated that we are the Republican Party so he would like to
                  turn this meeting into a forum to discuss ideas and work on finding
                  the answers together.
c.   Treasurer & Fundraising Committee Report – Scott Strepina
               i. $348.30 in account
              ii. Scott encouraged everyone to attend the Carey Baker and Adam
                  Putnam events
d.   Membership Committee – Jose Herrero
               i. There are 15 members in attendance and 16 non-members.
              ii. There is a Meet & Greet on Thursday at Acropolis in New Tampa.
e.   Political Affairs Committee – Dan Sullivan
              i.     Dan reminded everyone about the HCRP Summer Dinner Series
              on Friday. We will be hosting a YR meet and greet with Adam
              Putnam prior to the dinner. He added that Paula Dockery will also be
              there.
              ii. Dan advised that next week on September 2nd we will be hosting
              our Speaker Series event with Carey Baker. Tickets are available
              online.
f.   Marketing Committee – Jonathan Torres
            i. Jonathan advised that we are trying to use our social media tools as
                  much as possible. He asked that when you get a post or event
                  invitation to repost it on your page.
           ii.    Jonathan asked that if your church allows events to be posted in
                  their weekly flyer or allows for sponsorships to let him know.
g.   Social Committee – James Alvarez
               i. James announced that we will be having a social at the Hula Bay
                  Club on September 18th.
              ii. James announced that we will be attending the USF vs. Louisville
                  game and that tickets will range from $18 - $34.
iii. James advised that we are going to get tickets for the Bucs vs.
                    Panthers game.
              iv. James advised that we are starting to plan our Christmas party.
   h. Community Affairs – David Atkins
               i. A.J. advised that we are still coordinating a miniature golf
                  tournament with the Children’s Cancer Center of Tampa.
8. New Business
   a. Jackie announced that the College Republicans are sponsoring Campaign on
      Campus where candidates can come to campus and bring items and meet with
      students. Jackie also said that they have availability for you to come and
      speak at their meetings.
   b. Jackie announced that the College Republicans first meeting is on September
      2nd in the Marshall Center Food Court.
   c. Jackie advised that the College Republicans are sponsoring a 9/11 project
      where they are going to place 3,000 flags around campus as a reminder of that
      day. They are hoping to get some press from it as well. Anyone who would
      like to volunteer to help or to contribute to the cost of the flags is welcome.
   d. Scott Barrish announced that the 2nd Amendment Club will be meeting on
      October 6th and their guest speaker is Sheriff David Gee. He will be
      discussing violent crime and illegal guns.
   e. Eddie Adams announced that he was recently appointed to the Hillsborough
      County Healthcare Authority. They will be discussing tort reform and its
      affect on our country.
