I am a founding Board Member of (HCHO) and was elected Chairman at our March 2015 meeting.
Heartland Community Housing Organization (HCHO) was created to foster the promotion of decent,
safe, sanitary and affordable housing to individuals & families of very-low, low and moderate income
throughout the six-county region of Desoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands and Okeechobee.

Okeechobee Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. 2011- Present
Founder, President and CEO of OACC it has for its purpose the advancement of the civic,
commercial, industrial, tourism, and retail interests of its members, and of the surrounding territory
and the stimulation of public sentiment to these ends. It also informs the general public concerning
relocation and establishment of businesses and the activities of the organization and assist with
implementation of the Heartland 2060 Plan.
Past
Founding Board member Florida Consumer Action Network, Inc. 1984-2011
This board was formed in 1984 to fight for Consumer Issues related to Quality Air, Quality Water,
Quality Locally grown Agricultural Base and Quality Affordable Housing. All of which I fought for over
my twenty five years on the board with my Committee Work and Legislative Work. I worked on this
Board of Directors for 25 years serving as Vice President for the last six of those years.
Associated People of Florida1984-1986 Appointed by Senator Jeanne Malchon to this group of
concerned Citizens that the Senator formed to advise the Senator on issues Championed by
Associated Industries of Florida as to the effect their issues would have on the Citizens of Florida.
Founder and Executive Director of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter American Sub Contractors
Association, Inc. 1986-1992
The ideals and beliefs of ASA are ethical and equitable business practices, quality construction, a
safe and healthy work environment, and integrity and membership diversity. Protecting Sub
Contractors and Suppliers rights in the Construction Industry and giving back to the Community by
utilizing members in the participation of Community Service involving Repair to Low Income Elderly
Citizens of Tampa, Florida homes. As well as building projects for our school system such as the
Ticket Booth and Concession Stand at Hillsborough Counties King High School Football Field.
Founding Steering Committee member of Paint Your Heart Tampa 1988- 1992
My ASA members worked with Sandy Freedman Mayor of Tampa’s special project to assist the
elderly citizens of Tampa, Fl. Landscape, Repair, Power Wash and then Paint on one day a year
starting in 1989 61 Low Income Elderly homes were prepared for Painting on one day using 1,500
Volunteers. In 1990 I coordinated the entire project and we prepared and painted 102 Low income
elderly homes using 3,200 volunteers. In 1991 I coordinated the entire project again and we prepared
and painted on one day 111 low income elderly citizens homes using 3,600 Volunteers the project
continues today. This project gave to the City of Tampa an all-America City award by the National
League of Cities and was voted the number one Volunteer Community Service Project in America

2. that year. For my Volunteer efforts I was given a proclamation by Mayor Freedman and it says that
she hereby Proclaims May 31st

Hillsborough County Affordable Housing Advisory Board 1986-1992
I was appointed by the Hillsborough County Commission to serve as a member of this Board and I
served for six years our job was to deliver the mission. The Board advised and made
recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners and Affordable Housing Officer on issues
affecting affordable housing development.
Construction Industry Licensing Board 1996-2002
Appointed by Okeechobee County Commission to the Construction Industry Licensing Board which is
responsible for reviewing applications for sponsorship for various trade exams. The Board also hears
complaints against contractors, imposing fines where appropriate, conducts hearings for contractors
appealing citations received for violation of licensing and building code regulations, and recommends
additional Specialty Contractor classifications including the applicable scope of work and the amount
of experience required. Board Members also serve as the Construction Board of Adjustments and
Appeals, which makes decisions on requests for variances to the Building Codes and hears appeals
on decisions made by the Building Officials.
Heartland 2060 Plan 2007-2013
I worked on the Heartland 2060 Regional plan from inception in September of 2007 through
Completion in May of 2013. The results was a comprehensive 50 year plan as well as producing a

Community Service and Citizen Involvement
My Concerned Citizen activities also include Usher at Christ Fellowship Christian Church.
Picture Perfect 4-H Club Sponsored by Okeechobee News. I am a Charter member of the
Okeechobee Elks Club, Son of the American Legion and also served as the President of
Okeechobee County Chamber of Commerce, President of Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee and
was a founding Board Member and Vice President of Okeechobee Main Street Organization.
Political Candidate five times: My Message was and is our need to maintain Quality Air, Quality
Water, and a Quality Agriculture Base locally growing our food instead of importing it and
Affordable Housing all associated with our survival. These are the Public Offices that I have
campaigned for; Okeechobee County Commission, 2000, Okeechobee County Commission,
2004, Florida State House District 79, 2008, City Council 2012, 14 and City Council now 2016.
Education:
Florida Joint Building Trades Apprenticeship Program, 1969-1973, graduated first class as an
Operating Engineer. Clemson University, Professional Development. Indian River State College,
Entrepreneurship: The Real Road to Success, University South Florida, Grant Writing, Florida Kid
Care Training. Hillsborough Community College, Contracts and Psychology. National Grants
Program. Plus a long list of training on managing Nonprofit Organizations as a Board Member,
Officer, President, CEO and Founder of multiple Organizations.
