This document summarizes the results of an audience research questionnaire about viewers' documentary watching habits. It finds that 32% of respondents sometimes watch documentaries, and the BBC is the institution most associated with the genre. The most popular documentary titles referenced reality shows like TOWIE and Geordie Shore. Channel 4 was reported as the most used channel for watching documentaries. Voiceovers, interviews and archival footage were the most useful documentary conventions. Respondents expressed interest in learning about real life stories and crime through documentaries. Observational was the preferred documentary genre and music was the favored editing technique.
