Since graduating high school, I have attended Emory University with AA in Nuclear Medicine, Brown Mackie College with a AAB in Criminal Justice. 7. Reflection I consider my tenure at Argosy a challenge and a good opportunity. The road has been bumpy. I have learned a great deal about myself and tolerance of others. I have learned to think very critical and to re-evaluate everything without bias. This was very difficult because I had many misfortunes regarding my financial situation. But I will be ok what ever the outcome.

Critical Thinking Thesis Statement In my thesis, I intend to show that the insurance industry has the ability to make claims on claimant’s bills in regards to breast reconstruction surgery, birth control pills, and Viagra. In this thesis there will claims to the pros and cons to making such claims. I will also intend to show what experts say about making claims in regards to patients overall health benefits. In the thesis, will attempt to persuade you to why it is beneficial to a claimant to have these services paid. I would like to convey what the insurance industry overall perception is on making claims. In conclusion, to this thesis, I would like the reader’s eyes to be open to why it is important that we have constitutional rights and as a consumer that the insurance industry has the ability to pay and should rightfully do so because it is in the best interest of the claimant and overall health viability to one’s physical and psychological enhancement.

Ethics and Diversity Awareness Stigmatization vs. Non-Stigmatization Pamela Dollar Dr Kimberly Dobson Argosy University Stigmatization in the American Heritage Dictionary has three definitions for Stigmatization. The first is to characterize or brand as disgraceful or ignominious. The second is to mark with stigmata or a stigma. The third is to cause stigmata to appear on. Stigmatization origin is Medieval Latin stigmatizāre, to brand, from Greek stigmatize in, to mark, from stigma, stigmata-, tattoo mark. Usually, the word Stigmatize has a negative connotation applied. Erving Goffman, a noted sociologist, defined Stigma as a special kind of gap between virtual social identity and actual social identity: Goffman’s sociological theory, suggest a stigma is an attribute, behavior, or reputation which is socially discrediting in a particular way: it causes an individual to be mentally classified by others in an undesirable, rejected stereotype rather than in an accepted, normal one. Sociologist, Gerhard Falk describes stigma based on two categories, Existential Stigma and Achieved Stigma. Falk defines Existential Stigma "as stigma deriving from a condition which the target of the stigma either did not cause or over which he has little control." He defines Achieved Stigma as "stigma that is earned because of conduct and/or because they contributed heavily to attaining the stigma in question." .There is several other terms used concerning stigmatization, which are disapproving or condemning. Therefore, to stigmatize someone is to refer to them in a negative regard. Stigmatizing one is to name someone or label them; placing value to that name. Stigmatization has become a part of society and it is given value. To stigmatize another is not always true to fact. It is merely ones perception of another. The question is "Who are the Stigmatized and “Who are the Stigmatizers? Everyone stigmatizes whether it is admitted or recognized. Stigmatization is recognized as stigma felon, stigma disability, stigma aids, stigma sexuality, stigma amputee, stigma mental illness
12. Ethics and Diversity Awareness #2 . Stigmatization has historically been affiliated with personal biases such as skin color, religion, class, nationality, disability, and illegitimacy. Stigmatization is a form of taunting, identity, and status. Cultural Stigmatization can be social. It becomes beliefs that are against cultural norms. Stigmatization comes in three forms; Overt or External deformations. Examples of this are scars, physical manifestations of anorexia nervosa, leprosy, or of a physical disability or social disability, such as obesity. Secondly, known deviations in personal traits. For example, drug addicts, alcoholics, and criminals are stigmatized in this way. Third, "tribal stigmas" are traits of an ethnicity, nation, or religion that is deemed to constitute a deviation from what is perceived to be the prevailing normative ethnicity, nationality or religion. When one stigmatize the terms that are commonly used are “Us and Them” or “We and They”. In this model stigmatization is also contingent on “access to social, economic, and political power, that allows the identification of differences, construction of stereotypes, the separation of labeled persons into distinct groups, and the full execution of disapproval, rejection, exclusion, and discrimination.” Subsequently, in this model the term stigma is applied when labeling, stereotyping, disconnection, status loss, and discrimination all exist within a power situation that facilitates stigma to occur. Contrary to the stigmatization, the Non-stigmatization is usually the individual who does not recognize they are being stigmatized, giving neither a positive nor a negative affect. A non-stigmatized person is either highly extroverted, someone who accepts any labeling of themselves. They would usually state they agree with the assessment leaving a positive note of acceptance. They do not deny any entitlement. “They are usually the Naysayer of the group, or non conforming individuals. The non-stigma individual. They normally resist self-categorizing. It does not mean that the non-stigmatized individual is not sensitive to other people motives. They are usually sensitive to discounting and augmenting their belief in the evaluation from another person.
13. Applied Psychology Knowledge ofApplied Psychology A study was performed by Dr. Robert Provine on students at Maryland University on boredom and tiredness. A classroom of 17 and 19 year old students. The study is to see how many students would be focused on the watching videos and TV for 30 minutes to those who watched a color test bar for the same amount of time. The focus is to see if the behavior patterns change during the test and to see which group yawned the most. It has been determined that evolutionary and psychologically species are claimed to yawn as a nonverbal form of communication to synchronized group behavior (Hokung, 2003). According to Dr. Provine yawning is much like stretching, causing the heart rate and blood pressure to rise. Yawning causes the body to physically move and react to movement which causes the heart rate to increase because it is a form of new activity. In the study the students watching a color block yawned more due to boredom more than the students watching TV or videos. Dr Provine study in 1987 suggests that when CO2 is higher when the O2 is low, which causes yawning .This is an example of a group sampling and is it random? The question is the behavior of yawning is random and obviously present. Yawning has been determined as being contagious.
14. Applied Psychology #2 According to Dr. Walter Smitson, professor of psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, those social creatures are highly inclined to copy one another. It is also suggested that yawning is related to moods, in the event of a person being bored, tired or lacking oxygen can cue, alert or suggest that others in the group feel the same. Yawning is linked to being synchronized behavior act. The medical term is the “Copycat Theory”. Another theory can be raised to this is when one sees another person cry then they began to cry. Back to the sample. The randomness is evident but the group is in a control environment due to the selected age group, the environment being conducive to one group watching entertainment and another group is watching only a color block. 15. My Future in Learning Learning is a lifelong process. How do you envision your future as a lifelong learner? Learning is a skill that everyone possess but not everyone would like to pursue. I feel my learning will never cease because life is continuous so learning is apart of my wholeness. I do not only see it in my future but in my present and as long as I have a innate ability to process things my learning will go on. I hope through my learning I become better than before.
